802 True Happiness is to Enjoy the Present by Leigh Martinuzzi

True Happiness is to Enjoy the Present

Written and narrated by Leigh Martinuzzi

“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” Seneca. (more…)

What A Wonderful Life I’ve Had!

Written and narrated by Leigh Martinuzzi

“What a wonderful life I’ve had! I only wish I’d realized it sooner.” Sidonie Gabrielle Colette

If only I’d realised it soon er. Regret is one thing I fear the most. According to the research of Bonnie Ware, as she worked alongside the dying as a palliative nurse, the common theme amongst them was regret. What’s interesting as you analyse the regrets is that most of them were avoidable.  Things that were available however weren’t appreciated, enjoyed more or lived in alignment with.

Impact, Not Income!

Written by Leigh Martinuzzi

“Life is about making an impact not making an income.” Kevin Kruse

Service, giving back, helping others, and contributing are all feel good activities that we can do. I genuinely believe they are fundamental in living a life with greater freedom, fulfilment and happiness. And the ability to have a positive impact on the lives of others is available to us all. We can all do something every day that aims to serve others and have an impact. (more…)

774 Belief by Leigh Martinuzzi

Belief

Written by Leigh Martinuzzi

beliefa mental representation of an attitude positively oriented towards the likelihood of something being true.

Belief is the thought of something that is true or factually correct and can be interpreted to be the case with or without empirical evidence. We form various beliefs over the course of our lives and continue to do so on a day to day basis. Some beliefs are of little importance while others carry a significant weight upon our behaviours and overall well-being. Just as beliefs are formed I believe they can be changed. Therefore, if certain beliefs are representing obstacles as the way we truly desire to live our life, we can work to change them. (more…)

759 Escaping the Matrix and Waking Up to What’s Truly Important by Leigh Martinuzzi

Escaping the Matrix and Waking Up to What’s Truly Important

Written by Leigh Martinuzzi

The Matrix is an operating system controlled by machines. The machines are in full power. They manipulate how we humans feel by tapping into the way we perceive the world. This is carried out by the stimulation of our senses that send signals to the brain that depict our reality. In this state, we have a disillusioned sense of tranquillity, happiness and security. We believe whatever we want to believe. A feeling that we are in control.

At the same time, we are blissfully ignorant. It is this ignorance, combined with a disregard to the truth and a lack of ownership in seeking the truth, that we create the suffering that exists in our lives. (more…)

756 Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy by Leigh Martinuzzi

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy

Written and narrated by Leigh Martinuzzi

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” Theodore Roosevelt

Comparison; the act or process of comparing which usually has one examining the similarities or dissimilarities of two or more things or people.

In this statement, I believe Roosevelt is suggesting that it is the comparing of oneself to another that is the true thief of joy, not the comparison of things. Why does a consideration of our similarities or differences to another deplete our happiness? (more…)

Journaling is essentially a daily practice that involves writing about one’s thoughts, feelings, events and activities that are happening in life at any given moment. When I began focusing on my personal development several years back, everywhere I looked people promoted the benefits of keeping a journal. 743 Little Moments – Big Meaning, Memories and Joy

Little Moments

Written and narrated by Leigh Martinuzzi

“Little moments, BIG memories.” Fergus Connolly

It is often the little things in life that give us the greatest meaning and go on to form BIG memories. What do you really appreciate? What things bring you great joy? Is it the moments by the campfire with the family playing charades? The smell of coffee in the morning? A crisp ale in the afternoon while chatting with friends? The experience of heading to the airport ready to board a ship to another place? The sound of gravel under your shoes as you walk? (more…)
