Steve Wilson’s Journey: Conquering Bipolar Disorder

In a deeply personal and inspiring episode, I sit down with Steve Wilson, author of “Teetering on a Tightrope: My Bipolar Journey.” Steve opens up about his traumatic experiences of sexual abuse at a young age, his battles with depression, and his journey through the diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder. His candid discussion sheds light on the challenges and triumphs of living with bipolar disorder, emphasising the crucial role of medication and therapy in his recovery. Today, Steve is dedicated to helping others by sharing his story and working closely with individuals on mental health issues.

Steve Wilson, at 75 years old, has led an extraordinary life. Born in Delaware, Ohio, and now residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his wife of 51 years, Lenni, Steve has three daughters and two granddaughters. He spent 50 years in the custom clothing business before retiring in 2019. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1978, it wasn’t until 2000 that Steve managed to conquer the disorder. Since 2015, he has been facilitating mental health support groups and has appeared on over 30 podcasts this year alone, raising awareness about mental health and discussing the inadequacies of government programs and the harmful practices of insurance companies in providing mental health care.
