451 Guy Finley – Freedom, Dissatisfaction & The Misunderstanding of Resistance

Summary

“The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Guy Finley

In this episode, I bring back Guy Finley for round two. Guy was a guest back in episode 264 – click here to review. In that conversation, we discussed the concept of condition-less freedom and the key to living fearlessly.

This time we talk about the concept of “divine dissatisfaction” and why our misinterpretation of resistance is blocking us from living life freely, fully and with meaning.

Suffering as best as I can take away from Guy's interpretation is a characteristic of our consciousness relative to any particular moment and when we resist noticed by our reactions to the dissatisfaction are effectively allowing it to breathe.  Perhaps it is not about reducing suffering at all but rather being present with it, studying it and in doing so better.

Perhaps it is not about reducing suffering at all but rather being present with it, studying it and in doing so better understanding it. In this way may we be better able to be with it rather than looking for ways to remove it that only adds to the suffering. It's a deep conversation that I find myself constantly lost within thought but I think there is some closure as we wrap things up. Something beautiful to ponder on and take away.
